Who is Mrs. VanAsten?
I have been a Speech-Language Pathologist for 13 years, and I have spent the entirety of my career thus far working in the school settings. I have had the pleasure of spending the past 12 years working in the Howard-Suamico School District right here at Meadowbrook Elementary School.
I earned both my Bachelor's Degree in Communicative Disorders and my Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the Univeristy of Wisconsin Stevens Point.
I am proud to say that I live in the same village that I grew up in, Howard, WI! I even attended Meadowbrook Elementary as a student myself (not toooo long ago...). My family is made up of myself, my husband Nick, and our two children, Sawyer (4th grade) and Morgan (2nd grade). My children also attend Meadowbrook, and it's wonderful to see them each day around the school. We love to spend time with our family and friends, and especially enjoy doing activities outdoors like swimming, going on adventure, and spending weekends at our cabin in Michigan.
Some of my favorite things to do inlcude cooking, exercising, and watching funny and scary movies!
I believe that one of the most important skills a person can have is the ability to communicate effectively. I strive to provide my students with the tools they need to further develop their speech and language skills and to build their self-confidence as a communicator. I look forward to working with Meadowbrook staff, students, and families!
